CANCELING A TOUR
If you need to cancel a tour, we provide a (partial) refund depending on the timeframe in which you cancel:
8 days or longer before the tour: 100% refund | You can cancel free of charge.
7 days before the tour: 75% refund or reschedule | If you cancel the tour within a timeframe of 7 days, but longer than 48 hours before the reservation, we will reimburse 75% of the total tour costs with VAT. If you choose to reschedule the tour within this timeframe, we will move your tour to another time free of cost.
48 hours before the tour: 50% refund | If you cancel the tour within a timeframe of 48 hours, we will reimburse 50% of the total tour costs with VAT. Rescheduling the tour does not affect this condition.
Cancelling your tour can be done by sending us an email, including possible dates and times for rescheduling the tour.
CHANGING TIME/DATE OF THE TOUR
If your travel itinerary requires you to move the tour to another time, or even another date, the following conditions apply:
- Time changes from 1 minute to 29 minutes | If you need to move the start time less than half an hour earlier or later, this can be done free of charge, provided that the guide(s) who is scheduled for your tour is available at the adjusted time. If the changed time causes conflict with the guide’s personal schedule, we may have to shorten the tour.
- Time changes of 30 minutes or longer | If you want to change the tour to another time that is half an hour earlier/later or longer, the cancellation policy applies. This means, that if the tour time is adjusted within a timeframe of 48 hours before the tour, 50% of the initial costs have to be compensated on top of the fee for a newly booked tour. If the tour time is adjusted longer than 48 hours before the reservation, we don’t charge any extra costs. If the changed time causes conflict with the guide’s personal schedule, we may have to shorten the tour.
- Date change | If you want to change the tour to another date, the cancellation policy applies. We charge 50% compensation costs for the cancelled date, on top of the fee for a new tour.
REFUND POLICY
- Refund period | Upon cancellation, we will reimburse the (partial) fee depending on the timeframe in which the tour is cancelled. Your refund will be made on the same day of your cancellation, however, it may take up to 10 days before you see the money reappear in your account. In our experience, it usually takes no longer than 3 days.
- Cancellation by Guided Tour Holland company | If a tour is canceled by Guided Tour Holland, we will refund 100% of the paid amount to your account. For more info about cancellations from the company side, read here.
- Customer liability | Free Walking Tours Amsterdam can not be held accountable for delays and impediments beyond our control; including traffic delays, poor weather conditions that are not extreme, public transport strikes, city events and National Holiday timetables. Cancelled reservations, for reasons as mentioned, are a liability of the customer and therefore can not be refunded. If you have to cancel the tour due to airline delays or sudden illness, check your travel insurance for compensation.
EXCEPTIONAL REASONS FOR CANCELLATION
In certain situations, cancellation of the tour is inevitable and we provide a full refund. Below are the reasons for cancellations at any time, without extra charge:
- Extreme weather | In the case of extreme weather conditions, the tour has to be cancelled for safety reasons. When there is a national Code Red alert, we will cancel or reschedule for you without extra charge. This exemption does not apply in the case of regular rainfall, snow, heat or any weather condition that is not considered Code Red by the KNMI (Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute).
- Demonstration or sudden event | If there is an organised demonstration or sudden event that takes place on the tour itinerary, we have to cancel the tour due to restriction of entrance to the city centre.
- Government warning | If there is an official government warning issued for risks that pose a civilian threat, we have to cancel the tour for security reasons.
